- The NW 7U/9U Program places emphasis on developing basic skills in a non-competitive environment.
- Program is specifically designed for players trying basketball for the first time.
- 7U Sessions are traditionally mixed (boys and girls together)
- 9U Sessions are gender specific
- A smaller, lighter ball is used at this level so players can develop confidence in their passing and catching skills and shooting the ball to the height of the basket.
- Players receive a jersey and ball at the start of the season, which they get to keep.
- All NW 7U/9U team's players participate in the EYBA 7U/9U Tournament at the end of the season (March 2026).
Gameplay:
- No official league games are played however, small inter-group games are a part of each practice session.
- These inter-group games focus on skill development while keeping it fun for the kids.
Practice Details:
- Teams practice once per week in a gym in the Northwest Zone. Practices are same day and time and location every week depending on gym availability.
- Practice gym locations, practice days and times are TBD and subject to gym and coach availability.
- Practice time commitment is 1x per week (Sunday to Friday) for 1hr - 1.25 hrs.
